The Southeast Region
The Southeast is well-known for its mild weather, southern-style cooking and its warm hospitality. It is a highly desirable destination for immigrants and retirees who come from other regions of the United States. There are many landscapes in the South, from vast beaches with palm trees to mountains touched by snow.
Alabama

Southern hospitality is a cornerstone of Alabama. This region boasts beautiful mountains in the north that are perfect for hiking and camping. The Gulf Coast to the south offers sugar-white beaches for boating, swimming and many other water sports. The cities of Birmingham, Mobile and Montgomery offer many cultural and historical sites. Alabama is home to the International Motor Sports Hall of Fame, located just 50 miles north of Birmingham.
Florida

Called the “Sunshine State”, Florida is renowned for its beautiful beaches, Disney World, the Florida Keys, the Kennedy Space Center and the Everglades. This southern state is home to big cities, small towns and friendly people, and its warm, tropical weather allows for all sorts of outdoor activities. The major cities of Miami, Jacksonville and Tampa offer some of the finest entertainment, dining and recreational activities in this sunny state.
Georgia

Known for its great southern culture and hospitality, Georgia is one of the fastest growing states in America. Atlanta and Savannah are both big, vibrant cities with a small town way of doing things. Scenic mountains, beautiful southern plantations and flowering landscapes make Georgia a visual delight.
Louisiana

New Orleans is the most famous town in this southern state and is well know for its annual Mardi Gras. Cajun and Creole in culture, Louisiana is home to excellent music, mouth-watering food, warm-hearted people, riverboat rides, the great bayou and stately plantation homes.
Mississippi

Scenic drives, the famous Mississippi River and rhythm and blues music are all part of the landscape in this laid-back state. Experience small-town atmosphere and lots of great southern cooking wherever you go. Biloxi is one of the state’s largest cities, with a variety of sights and attractions. Take a walk through town or a boat ride down the river. Enjoy the leisurely pace; no hurrying allowed.
North Carolina

The gateway to the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, this is the perfect destination for camping and hiking, visiting hot springs or enjoying a round of golf. Visit Hatteras or the Brunswick Islands, boat near the shore or lounge near the Cape Fear coast. Visit the historic sites, museums, parks and restaurants of Winston-Salem and Raleigh or just enjoy the peace and tranquility of the beaches or wineries in the hill.
South Carolina

With its world-class coastal resorts and pristine beaches, this state is an attraction for both visitors and residents. South Carolina is home to more than 330 golf courses, the historic cities of Charleston and Columbia and thoroughbred horse racing. It’s a state that’s a delight for all who visit or live here.
Tennessee

A blend of southern tradition, modern efficiency and natural beauty, Tennessee is a great place to put down roots. The city of Memphis is known as the “Birthplace of Rock ‘n’ Roll,” while the city of Nashville is the home of country music. Tennessee welcomes you with friendly people, spectacular beauty and a charm all of its own.
