The Golden West
California

The Golden State is regarded as the last frontier of the West. A vast coastline and one of the largest states in the country, California offers so much variety that it’s difficult to pick out specific highlights. The cultural diversity includes a large population of Hispanics, Asians and Europeans. The infusion of so many differing cultures gives California a flavor of its own. West coast cities are known for their tolerance and “live and let live” attitude that sets them apart from the rest of the country.

The cities of Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Diego are the largest and most well known in this state. However, there are many other cities and towns that make up California, each with a unique set of characteristics. The inland regions of the state have mountain ranges and deserts. There are forests and rolling hills in the northern part of the state and long golden beaches in the southern portion. Los Angeles is a large, bustling metropolis and the motion picture capital of the world. Whether it’s fun in the sun, exploring mountains and deserts or crossing the world-famous Golden Gate Bridge, California has attractions to keep you discovering new things for a long time.
